My husband, Jeff, and I couldn’t be more different when it comes to travel.

I grew up, vacationing by driving across country in a little red sedan we called “Rudy” and hauling our tent and camping gear in a little red trailer we longingly named Rudy’s “Caboose”. In Rudy and her Caboose we had many adventures traveling from one end of the country to another. Eventually, Rudy and her caboose were traded in for a station wagon and a pop-up trailer that made room for additional siblings.

Jeff, on the other hand, grew up believing that vacationing was done with airplanes and fancy hotels. In fact, “roughing it” was having to stay at a motel with no pool!

We have tried different types of RVs over the years, and have learned that the dream of owning an RV doesn’t always match the reality. RVing often means having to spend a lot more money than expected as well as dealing with complicated RV maintenance or other issues. And lets not even talk about wrestling a black tank hose!

One thing we have both settled on is the simple enjoyment of being outdoors and spending time in nature with the fewest hassles as possible. That’s where the concept for SimpleCamp was born, by answering the question: How can we create a quality van for less money and a lot less hassle?
